Finally, we are seeing more sunshine than rain in the Pacific NW and the flowers are blooming! The weather is so much more bearable and as the tourism season picks up in our Tasting Rooms, we are busily preparing for the Summer Wine Club Release.
The June release celebrates the stunning Red Willow Vineyard and the newest wines from the 2016 vintage, as well as a hand selected library wine from 2010. These wines are available only to our loyal club members, at a 15% discount! JOIN OUR CLUB
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of "cruising" through these beautiful wines to create tasting notes for our Wine Club Newsletters. Within seconds, I had all eyes on these wines and the eager faces that wanted a splash for themselves. This is truly the glamorous part of our job in the wine industry and when the wines are so incredibly approachable this early on, it is a task we all welcome!
For our Washington Red Wine Club Members, 2 of the wines we tasted for the June release are as follows:
2016 Cabernet Sauvignon, Red Willow Vineyard - A beautiful representation of the stunning Red Willow Vineyard with floral violet and sweet bell pepper aromas, this Cabernet Sauvignon is showy with jammy boysenberry and cocoa nib on the palate. Layers of candied plum fruit and vanilla linger with a velvety rich mouthfeel, finishing long with firm tannins and hints of cigar box. Drink now through 2030. Wine club price is $61.20.
2016 Syrah, Chapel Block, Red Willow Vineyard - A blast of blue fruit and classic Red Willow earth fill the glass with brilliant notes of blueberry and brambleberry aromas. Flavors of blackberry fruit leather and violet are nicely layered within a velvety texture interladen with hints of star anise and black pepper. A little young now, but will continue to develop if opened and decanted for 1 hour prior to enjoyment. Cellaring time will benefit this wine for a decade or longer. For our Oregon Pinot Noir Wine Club Members, 1 of the wines we tasted for the June release is:
2016 Pinot Noir, Lenne Vineyard - Pretty aromas of fragrant raspberry and subtle eucalyptus swirl with hints of vanilla and cherry cola. A bright burst of sweet red fruit notes hit the palate and lead to a complex structure of fresh sage, cinnamon and clove spice. This full-bodied Pinot Noir is brimming with blackberry fruit and cedar flavors, finishing with gripping acidity and hints of lingering fresh cracked hazelnuts.
